Deodorizer is a building that reduces the threat of Slimelung infection by purifying Polluted Oxygen in its vicinity.

The Deodorizer needs to be periodically supplied Filtration Medium to work. It will drop the created Clay on the ground.

The temperature of the output materials is the combined one of the input materials. Deodorizers require 5 Watts of power to operate.

Mechanics[ | ]

The Deodorizer seems to be able to catch Polluted Oxygen 2 tiles away (a 5 tile tall and wide star/cross shaped area). It will not catch anything behind mechanical doors or (non-mesh/airflow) tiles however.

The deodorizer converts 90% of the Polluted Oxygen to Oxygen. It produces more Clay than it consumes Filtration Medium.

Usage[ | ]

Use Deodorizers to clean the air near structures that will emit Polluted Oxygen, Polluted Water, or Polluted Dirt when working, such as Outhouses and Wash Basins. When exploring the asteroid, you can use Deodorizers to clean pockets of Polluted Oxygen and then pump the clean Oxygen in your colony. Note that the Deodorizer does not remove germs from the air, although germs will slowly die off once the oxygen has been cleaned.

Tips[ | ]

  • It can overpressure the area despite normal gas vent allowing 2000g of gas in an area (this is an early game high pressure gas vent when filtering Polluted Oxygen). This makes it perfect for filtration to a gas tank for oxygen storage.
  • Since Polluted Water naturally converts itself into Polluted Oxygen over time, an array of Deodorizers over an open pool of Polluted Water can (very slowly) convert the Polluted Water into Oxygen without generating heat. Even though this process is too slow to be your primary source of Oxygen, it also produces Clay which is an important resource for Ceramic production.
  • Since Deodorizers can collect Polluted Oxygen from two tiles away, and since liquids don't block this reach, it is possible to create a perfect seal between the Oxygen and Polluted Oxygen by placing a liquid tile in between the Deodorizer and Polluted Oxygen.
