Basic farming allows for basic domestication of plants using the Planter Box, and grants access to early-game Carbon Dioxide recycling with the Algae Terrarium. Additionally, it permits access to the construction of additional Ration Boxes and allows the proper disposal of  Polluted Dirt with Compost.

Tips

• This is often the first research a player will take, as it allows the for early-game recycling of Carbon Dioxide into clean Oxygen as well as allowing growth of domestic plants.
• The colony will begin with one Ration Box, but this research is required to create more.
